Torn between Forged and Clydesdale?
"I just wanted to let you know that I am very happy with the Forged Alu
Evolution Mast!
I already used the mast for wing foiling and for pump foiling.
So far I have used:
Pumpfoiling:
- Forged alu mast with SAB Kraken Adapter and frontwings Leviathan 1350
(1850cm2 surface) and Leviathan Pro 1360 (1400cm2)
- Forged alu mast with Duotone Adapter and Whizz frontwing (1450cm2)
- Forged alu mast with Code Adapter and Code 1540S frontwing (1540cm2)
Wingfoil:
- Forged alu mast with SAB Kraken Adapter and frontwing Sabfoil Tortuga
1100 (2100cm2) for light wind winging (together with duotone downwinder
air board)
Me: height 178cm, 92kg weight
For pumpfoiling, I was using the SABFoil 73P carbon mast. I noticed
that the Forged alu mast feels a little less stiff, especially if you
push/pump while turning. The 73P is very thick 18-22mm and tapered
chord, it was specifically made for pumpfoiling. However, the alu
forged mast has much less drag, your mast glides sooo well! Recently,
there was plenty of wind on the lake of zurich, and I was able to
downwind with my big Sabfoil pump setup (leviathan 1350). Something I
was not able to do with the 73P mast! Also, when using the very thin
and fast Sabfoil Leviathan Pro 1360 frontwing, the forged alu mast
feels much better than the 73P. In any case, the stiffness of the mast
is sufficient for all of my foils. the superior glide / less drag
totally compensate the minor decrease in stiffness!
So in summary, I am very very happy with the purchase based on your
recommendation!"

Evolution Wind Review
James Casey Waterstart Comparison
Don't take our word for it
“Absolutely the best winging mast I’ve used (among the Classic Cedrus mast, the Clydesdale version, various versions of F One, the current AFS, the Axis aluminum and HM, various Takumas, Unifoils, GoFoils, the NoLimitz masts and others - I have friends and vendors that like to share and provide demos). Some masts would not ventilate (usually longer chords and thinner foil sections), but you’d have to deal with the flex and the vagueness of control. Others were stiff, but a little slower on the top end.
There was always a compromise until Evolution Wind.
I don’t even think about my gear anymore (trying to predict venting in high chop conditions when pinching hard - I would focus on preventing the burp instead of looking at how I could abuse the section of the wave in front of me, or pull punches when taking bigger drops and banking hard on to a follow on bottom turn) - I just ride as hard as I can now. I still plan on using my Project Cedrus Classic masts to prone foil and for Foil Drive prone foiling - I don’t feel like there is any loss of performance in those disciplines - but I will only wing with the Evolution Wind mast from now on.
Thanks for the time, effort, blood, sweat and tears used to design, line up manufacturing, and even sending each mast with recycled packing materials - the masts are a labor of love and it shows!!!”
The emails keep coming
Wow, wow, wow!
Seriously though, what a difference. I wanted to wait until I had a few sessions under the belt with serious riding before sending any feedback. As for specifics, I can say the following:
Stiffness is remarkably better. My foil feels twitchier and responsive at levels I wasn’t expecting. This was welcomed and as I said, unexpected.
Ventilation has yet to show its face!!! I push my gear very hard utilizing speeds and upwind angles with aggressive maneuvers. While I haven’t had the conditions align for full send speed runs yet, I’ve had it over 26mph multiple times and cranked some serious upwind angles and g’s with winds > 40mph and I’ve had ZERO ventilation. This is huge. Seriously, I’d buy it just for that.
Efficiency is a hard measure in two sessions with nuking winds. I’ll get back to you on that one, but at a minimum, it’s as efficient with static glide as the classic. It’s definitely more efficient with dynamic pumping via improved stiffness, but I haven’t had a chance to evaluate raw efficiency in pure glide.
Aesthetics and overall mastery just have a superior look and feel. The quality is remarkable and the look is very sharp and professional. The finish is a 10/10. Also, the Unifoil adapter carries the same level of craftsmanship and the top plate does as well.
That’s all for now, I just wanted to give you my initial thoughts. You’ve created an amazing mast (erpiece) and I’ll definitely spread the word.
