FAQs
Due to unexpected manufacturing challenges, the Launch Batch of masts are wired for Gen2 and can be used with Fusion using the Barnacle. Future batches will have extra cable length for the Fusion system. However, it is critical that you exercise extreme care when switching between the two modes. You must move the cable slowly and without too much force to prevent damage to the shielding and splices. Please contact us for further instructions. If you plan to switch between Fusion and Gen 2 systems frequently, we recommend adding a Barnacle Cable Extender from Foil Drive to your Fusion system so that you do not need to adjust your cable length.
Unlike our non-integrated aluminum masts, these masts are NOT sealed from water ingress due to the penetrations created by the cables and motorpod. While the water does get in, we've engineered it to get out much easier. It will drain all cavities if left upside down in a matter of minutes. The water ingress does have the benefit of making the system more quiet and damped. Seals, adhesives, and foams do not work due to the heat created by our welding process. Ultimately, all seals fail and the water becomes hard to drain.
Yes! Integrated masts feature the same adapter connection as Forged, Surf, and Wind. Essentially all Cedrus masts produced since 2024
Yes, minor weld porosity in aluminum is normal and only becomes visual after grinding. Our robots yield extremely consistent results in terms of weld stiffness and strength, and the minor porosity has no structural impact and the pinholes do not affect performance of the mast.
Yes. All aluminum extrusions have some very minor degree of asymmetry due to the die and extrusion process. We know because we've extruded a lot of masts and we've evaluated other brands' masts too. The slight asymmetry in the extrusion is further amplified by our forging process, and can result in a slightly textured surface due to plasticity of the aluminum inside the mast cavity. The shape and surface has no impact on mast performance. Asymmetry can actually reduce drag by altering the pattern of vortex shedding off the trailing edge of the mast, and the boundary layer is very thick and turbulent near the trailing edge and not affected by slight changes in surface roughness.
No, but we offer a sleeve option which can be modified to accomadate the motor. Contact us for info.
The motor pod has a very tight fit to the mast, and the anodizing process can yield unique patterns and features around this region due to the complex geometry. The light color is strictly due to inconsistencies in the dye, and does not affect the actual protective layer of the anodizing.
Nope! There is actually no benefit to carbon in the case of an integrated mast, as the battery and motor offset any potential weight gains. We can essentially match drag and stiffness of carbon using forged aluminum, at 1/3 the price and with the added benefit of more flexibility with motor placement and length.

THE MOST ADVANCED MANUFACTURING
No one makes a mast like Cedrus. Our carbon and aluminum masts are manufactured entirely in-house using the most advanced processes on the planet. Robotic welding, CNC machining, automated sanding, and zero-VOC finishes are examples of technology that we have brought over from decades of experience in aerospace and automotive industries. They allow us to make a better mast with less environmental impact, with greater control over quality and innovation.
INVEST IN A SINGLE MAST
Cedrus masts redefine versatility as the only truly universal foil mast, which means you’re not locked into a single foil brand. This one investment will allow you to stay current and evolve as quickly as the sport changes without buying another mast.
The new patented adapter interface of Evolution Cedrus combines the industry’s strongest custom M8 screws and tightest manufacturing tolerances with additional M10 hardware to ensure that your foil connection is stiffer and stronger.
A STRONGER UNIVERSAL MAST
Cedrus lead the industry movement towards a stiffer mast, and the Evolution masts introduce new patented hydrodynamic concepts that will truly make this the all-around best performing mast. This new design offers a more progressive feel as ride height changes through the water column, so it’s easier to lift off the water and stay there.
The shorter lengths of Evolution Surf are optimized to address drag with reduced thickness and wetted area, ensuring longer glides, fewer pumps, and faster top-end speeds while improving ventilation resistance over the Classic.
ADVANCED ENGINEERING
The Evolution mast's performance isn't just about the materials used; it's about smart design. Drawing on years of expertise in fields from aerospace to consumer products, we've crafted a mast that sets new standards in the industry.
Using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and tests from our unique rig, we ensure our designs are superior through engineering. The mast uses intermediate modulus fiber, striking the perfect balance between stiffness and strength, while the durable aluminum board mount can withstand impact loads from abuse without scrapping a mast. Both Evolution Wind & Surf models offer unmatched stiffness and strength with less weight and drag, redefining what's possible.
Manufactured Responsibly
LESS WASTE
Using up-cycled materials from Boeing and a hollow design minimizes waste and shipping emissions. Our commitment extends to packaging, using 100% recycled or reused materials despite the higher costs and logistical challenges.
LONG LASTING
Our masts are built to endure a lifetime of heavy use, with a warranty rate of <1% since launching he Classic in 2017. This durability reflects our sound engineering and design while minimizing the environmental impact of our products.
LOCALLY MADE
Manufactured outside Seattle, our masts boast enhanced quality control and reduced environmental impact by cutting down on transportation distances.
SMALL BATCHES
We produce in small batches to refine continuously and avoid overproduction. This approach prevents waste, eliminates excess inventory, and allows each mast to be tailored to individual customer needs.
