Evolution Surf pioneered the short-chord length revolution when it launched in 2023, and has recently undergone a 2025 facelift bringing enhanced performance and cosmetics. With reduced wetted area in the hydrodynamically critical region of the mast, Evolution Surf offers more efficient pumping and wave connections than OEM foil masts. These masts have become popular among downwind foilers, and offer more pivot-like turns whether you are slashing surf or swell. Evolution Surf offers a more progressive feel under varying ride heights than traditional tapered masts, but rewards riders for staying high with a predictable ride. The mast is engineered for low to mid speed performance in the 5-15kt range, where ventilation is less common and riders are more sensitive to drag.

Intermediate Modulus (IM) offers industry benchmark stiffness for average size riders (<200lbs) riding small to mid size performance foils (<1200mm span). This layup features improved torsional stiffness from the original Surf mast, actually matching that of Evolution Wind. The outer ply has been updated to the same spread tow fabric, and now covers the entire length of the mast.

Ultra High Modulus (UHM) masts feature a 100% UHM prepreg laminate for maximum stiffness without sacrificing strength thanks to the unique Cedrus architecture and aluminum board mont. These masts are ideal for larger riders, those riding long span foils, or DW racers looking to maximize pumping efficiency. UHM material is thinner and more expensive than IM and HM carbon prepreg, increasing labor and material costs. As a result, this mast carries a significant price premium over the IM version with a 30% increase in stiffness. UHM masts feature stealth black graphics, and the same spread tow cosmetic ply.

This allows us to be more efficient with our time and working capital, minimize waste, react more quickly to market trends, and ultimately build a better product. Usually we assemble 2-3 masts at a time, and if resources allow, we make popular lengths as extra for "in-stock" purchases. If your desired length is not in stock, "Out of stock" masts will be assembled in 2-5 weeks following purchase. Please contact us if you have concerns about exact lead time and availability, for example if you are leaving on a trip and need by a certain date. If you're in a crunch, we can loan an aluminum mast at no charge while we build your carbon!
