I don’t even think about my gear anymore (trying to predict venting in high chop conditions when pinching hard - I would focus on preventing the burp instead of looking at how I could abuse the section of the wave in front of me, or pull punches when taking bigger drops and banking hard on to a follow on bottom turn) - I just ride as hard as I can now.
